Heading 6
U-16
For players born between 2010-2011
The focus intensifies on high-performance execution and tactical sophistication. This stage is defined by "functional training," where players refine the specific demands of their positions within a highly structured team system. Physically, the game reaches its peak speed and athleticism, requiring players to demonstrate elite conditioning and the ability to maintain technical precision under extreme pressure. Tactically, the emphasis is on game management, understanding how to control the tempo, exploit an opponent's weaknesses, and adapt formations mid-match. Ultimately, U-16 is about mastering the competitive edge, preparing players for the transition to collegiate or professional-track environments through discipline, mental resilience, and a "win-rate" mentality.
U-14
For players born between 2012-2013
The game evolves into a full-scale tactical battle as players transition to the 11v11 format and a full-sized pitch. This stage emphasizes physicality, endurance, and specialized roles, where players are no longer just learning "soccer," but are mastering specific positions and systems of play. Training shifts toward collective defending, high-pressure pressing, and sophisticated attacking patterns, requiring players to maintain technical precision while under intense time and space constraints. Ultimately, U-14 is about competitive maturity, where the focus is on executing complex game plans and developing the mental toughness needed for high-level, results-oriented play.
U-12
For players born between 2014-2015
Players begin to shift from individual ball control to group dynamics and tactical speed. Players transition from small-sided games to larger formats, requiring them to master "playing with their heads up" to execute more complex team plays. This stage emphasizes rapid transition—quickly turning defense into attack—and introduces sophisticated concepts like overlapping runs, zonal defending, and switching the point of attack. While technical refinement continues, the primary goal is developing "game intelligence," where players learn to read the field, anticipate play, and make independent decisions under increased physical pressure.
U-10
For players born between 2016-2017
Players transition from "swarm soccer" to a more structured game focused on individual ball mastery and basic team tactics. This stage is all about developing a reliable first touch and the confidence to beat defenders 1v1, while beginning to understand the importance of spreading out and holding a position. Instead of just chasing the ball, kids learn to look up, find open space, and make intentional passes to teammates, effectively bridging the gap between basic play and real strategy.
U-8
For players born between 2018-2019
Players focus is almost entirely on the individual's relationship with the ball to build a foundation of "physical literacy." This stage is characterized by "me and my ball," where players move away from simply kicking and chasing to learning how to keep the ball close while running. Training emphasizes basic motor skills, like balance and coordination, alongside fundamental dribbling and soft touches. While the concept of "teammates" is introduced, the primary goal is to ensure every child feels comfortable having the ball at their feet, encouraging them to be brave in 1v1 situations without the pressure of complex tactics or rigid positions.
U-6
For players born between 2020-2021
Soccer is primarily about discovery and physical literacy rather than strategy or rules. The main goal is to make every child fall in love with the game while developing basic motor skills like balance, running, and jumping with a ball at their feet. At this age, "tactics" don't exist; instead, the focus is on the individual relationship with the ball, encouraging kids to dribble as much as possible to build confidence. It is the era of "butterfly chasing" and "swarm ball," where the objective is simply to keep the ball moving and ensure every player gets as many touches as possible in a fun, high-energy environment.
